Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know Before Hiring Bright Painters
We've answered the questions we hear most often from homeowners and businesses across Auckland. If you can't find what you're looking for, contact us and we'll be happy to help.
Getting Started
Do you provide free quotes?
Yes — every quote is completely free and comes with no obligation. You can get pricing two ways: request an Online Quote by sending us photos, or book a Site Visit for an in-person assessment.
How long does it take to receive a quote?
Turnaround depends on the option you choose. For Online Quotes we reply as soon as we've reviewed your photos and details; for Site Visits we provide a detailed quote within 24 hours of the visit.
Do I need to be home for a quote?
Not for an Online Quote — just send photos and a description and we'll do the rest. For a Site Visit it helps to have someone available to walk us through the project, but it isn't always essential. Just let us know what works.
What's the difference between an Online Quote and a Site Visit?
Online Quote — fast and remote. You send photos and project details and we reply with pricing. No appointment needed, ideal for straightforward jobs.
Site Visit — an in-person inspection where we assess the surfaces on site. Best for larger, older, or more complex projects where seeing the surfaces in person gives the most accurate quote.
Services
What painting services do you offer?
We cover the full range of residential and commercial painting:
- Interior & exterior house painting
- Commercial & industrial painting
- Roof painting & restoration
- Waterblasting, surface preparation, fence & deck, and special finishes
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. We paint offices, retail spaces, warehouses, schools and other commercial buildings. We plan around your operating hours — including evenings and weekends where needed — to keep disruption to a minimum.
Do you offer colour consultation?
Yes. If you're not sure which colours to choose, we're happy to talk through options that suit your space, light and existing finishes. You can also try combinations on our homepage colour tool before you decide.
Do you provide surface preparation?
Always — proper preparation is the foundation of a long-lasting finish. Depending on the job that includes cleaning, scraping off old or peeling paint, sanding, filling cracks and imperfections, and priming for strong adhesion.
Do you provide waterblasting before painting?
Yes. Waterblasting removes dirt, mould, moss and grime so paint bonds properly and lasts. We can also waterblast driveways, decks and exterior surfaces as a standalone service.
Pricing & Quotes
How much does painting cost?
Every project is different, so cost depends on the size of the area, the condition of the surfaces, how much preparation is needed and the finish you're after. The best way to get an accurate figure is a free quote — send photos or book a site visit and we'll give you a clear, itemised price.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. Our quotes are detailed and transparent — what we quote is what you pay. If something unexpected comes up once work is underway, we talk to you and agree on it before doing anything extra.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank transfer and other common payment methods. We'll confirm the details with you when we finalise your quote.
Do you offer flexible payment options?
Flexible payment options are available depending on the size of your project. Contact us to discuss what works for you.
During Your Project
Do I need to move furniture?
You don't have to handle it alone. We move and cover furniture as part of our prep, and protect your floors and belongings before we start. If there are fragile or valuable items you'd prefer to move yourself, just let us know.
Will you clean up afterwards?
Always. Full clean-up is included on every job — we remove all coverings and masking, tidy the work areas, carry out a final inspection and touch-ups, and leave your space clean and ready to use.
What paint brands do you use?
We use premium, trade-quality paints chosen to stand up to New Zealand's climate and give a smooth, long-lasting finish. If you have a preferred brand or product, let us know and we'll work with it.
Will my daily routine be disrupted?
We work to keep disruption to a minimum. We plan the work around your household or business, stay tidy as we go, and communicate clearly about what's happening each day so there are no surprises.
What happens if it rains?
For exterior work, weather matters — applying paint in the wrong conditions affects the finish. If rain is forecast we adjust the schedule and continue as soon as conditions allow. We keep you updated so you always know where things stand.
Scheduling
How soon can you start?
It depends on our current bookings and the size of your job. Once we've quoted, we'll give you the earliest realistic start date. Get in touch for current availability — we'll always be straight with you about timing.
Can you work while I'm away?
Yes — many of our customers prefer this. We're fully insured and treat your property with respect, so plenty of clients are comfortable with us carrying out the work while they're at work or away. We'll agree on access arrangements beforehand.
How long does a typical painting project take?
It varies with the size and scope. A single room might take a day or two, while a full exterior repaint can take a week or more once preparation and drying times are factored in. We'll give you a realistic timeframe with your quote.
Quality & Trust
Are you insured?
Yes — Bright Painters is fully insured for both residential and commercial painting work, so you have complete peace of mind while we're on the job.
Do you guarantee your work?
We stand behind our workmanship. We take the time to prep and paint properly, and if something isn't right we'll put it right — talk to us about the specifics for your project and we'll make sure you're happy with the result.
How long has Bright Painters been operating?
Since 2014 — over a decade of hands-on experience painting homes and businesses across East Auckland and the wider region. Our director, Uditha Lakmal, is a qualified painter and decorator who takes a hands-on approach to every project.
Why should I choose Bright Painters instead of a cheaper quote?
A cheaper quote often means less preparation, thinner coats, or lower-grade materials — which shows up as peeling and fading far sooner, costing more to redo. Our quotes include proper surface prep, quality paints and a tidy, professional finish that lasts.
You're also getting a fully insured team that shows up on time, communicates clearly and treats your property with respect. For more on what sets us apart, see Why Choose Bright Painters.
Discounts
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes — we run a few different offers:
- Emergency services — priority help when you need work done urgently.
- SuperGold Card discount — a thank-you to our senior customers.
- Seasonal promotions — including the current month's special on quotes.
Contact us to find out which current offers apply to your project.
Service Areas
Which areas do you cover?
We're based in East Auckland — Pakuranga, Howick and Botany — and service most of the wider Auckland region, roughly out to Albany in the north and Henderson in the west. Not sure if we cover your suburb? Check the service area map or just ask.
